Liles Williams

Liles Williams served as Chairman of the Mississippi Workers' Compensation Commission twelve years 2005 - 2017. He was appointed by Governor Haley Barbour. Prior to his appointment as Chairman, he was Vice President and Assistant to the President of Stuart C. Irby Co., Jackson, Mississippi.

Mr. Williams received his BS in Business Administration from Belhaven College.

His past community and civic activities include the following:

  • Served as Founding President of Mississippi World Trade Center, an organization created for the purpose of serving as a resource for Mississippi businesses in import and export business;

  • Founding Vice Chairman of Mississippi Partnership for Economic Development which works with the Mississippi Development Authority and other state agencies to bring new business to Mississippi;

  • Chairman of Distributors Committee and member of the Board of Directors Metro Jackson Chamber of Commerce;

  • Chairman, Small Business Council and member of the Board of Directors, Mississippi Economic Council;

  • Chairman of Governmental Affairs Committee, National Association of Electrica I Distributors;

  • National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors, Board of Delegates, PAC Board;

  • Business and Industry Political Education (BIPEC) and Improve Mississippi Political Action Committee (IMPAC): President, Board of Directors;

  • American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) - Chairman, Mississippi Private Sector. Awarded Private Sector Member of the Year, 1997 in recognition of exemplary support of ALEC and its mission to advance the Jeffersonian principles of individual liberty, limited government, federalism and free enterprise;

  • United States Chamber of Commerce-Public Affairs Committee;

  • Delegate to White House Conference on Small Business;

  • Mississippi Jaycees State Vice President;

  • United Way of Capital Area - Campaign Chairman and Chairman of Board;

  • President, Keep Jackson Beautiful.
